Luke tells a story of 10 men who met Jesus and were healed as He was traveling near the border of Galilee and Samaria. They asked Him to take pity on them. He told them to go show themselves to the priest. “And as they went, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked Him—and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, ‘We’re not all 10 cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God?’”.

The disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray. He responded with a wonderful outline starting with where to begin and how we should end. Jesus began with saying, “Our Father in heaven.” (Matthew 6:9) How beautiful! Recognition that God is our Father and we belong to Him is the first place to start. The years bring many changes for all of us, some we never reckoned on! Christmas is a time of reflection; it is also a season of hope. As we approach the end of the year, it is natural to look back with contemplation and reflection. At Christmastime our hearts turn toward home. We remember our childhood and those we love who may no longer be with us. We think about the challenges of the past year, as well as the many blessings, and wonder what the future holds.
